I am very excited to finally share a very special moment in my life; our wedding in Ecuador. Marc and I have been together over 4 years and we finally tied the knot in the city where I am from, Guayaquil. I have to admit that Marc was actually the one who proposed to have the wedding in Ecuador and I couldn’t be happier. Most of family and friends are there and we decided it would be fun to show Marc’s family a little taste of Ecuador. Marc visited Ecuador a couple of times prior to our wedding and the place and church we chose have special meaning to us in different ways. I want to start this post by sharing our wedding video.
After we had the venue and church selected, we knew that it was only the beginning and that there was a lot more to do to make that day extra special. We knew that planning the wedding in Ecuador would bring some challenges, not only we were living in Minnesota but also Marc didn’t speak any Spanish. We wanted someone who would be bilingual and who would work with us remotely. Our wedding planner was Andrea Simon, she is super sweet and professional. She truly knows what you want and Here are some pictures of our special day!
We decided to go with pastel lavender color and I have always dreamed with a huge princes wedding cake, I was overjoyed when I got to the reception and saw the beautiful cake. We received a lot of complements on the decorations that Andrea did for our wedding.
The Wedding Dress
Every woman dreams of a fairytale wedding and I was not different. I love the princess style dress and I thought this would be ideal for the church. However, I also wanted something more classy and elegant but also comfortable for the reception. I thought that the only solution to this issue would be to have two dresses or better yet, have two dresses in one. At the end, you only get married once!
We were running out of time with the wedding planning and I didn’t have time to go see flowers. I was a bit worries about this because of the variety of flowers and it’s colors. I remember mentioning to Andrea that I wanted roses with a hint of pastel colors and a soft lavender. When Andrea gave me my bouquet on my wedding day I was speechless. I remember getting many compliments on my bouquet and the flowers in the reception.
The Wedding Party
Words cannot express how thankful I am for these people. I had the best maid of honors in the world (my sisters) and bridesmaids. They have been with me throughout my life and this day was not different. I can say that having them by my side made my day extra special.
For the bridesmaids, I opted for a lavender dress. I know bridesmaids dresses can be very expensive but I was able to find very affordable options at Asos . I love the lace detail on the top of the dresses and the open back, and this dress is great for all body types. I was happy that my bridesmaids loved the dresses.
Marc was in charge of the outfits for the groomsmen, and he did an excellent job at finding affordable, yet classy and elegant pieces to complement the bridesmaids dresses and wedding theme.
The Church – San Jose Maria Escriva
This was such a beautiful church. We fell in love with the design and when we walked into this church we knew this was the place.
Planning the wedding was definitely not easy, but it was super fun and I am glad to say that we truly enjoyed every stage of the wedding planning. Obviously, having an amazing wedding planner made things go smoothly.
