Happy Wednesday my friends! We are less than 5 days to Christmas so I thought it would be appropriate to make a christmas post. Living in a state that is so cold makes me me those warm days in Ecuador. However, I have to admit that if you give me the option to just stay at home and enjoy a cup of hot cocoa while sitting next to the fire place is also very tempting!
Christmas is truly a great time of the year, not only about the gifts but more importantly is time to celebrate with family and your closed ones. Since moving to the US I have adapted new family traditions. As a sweet/dessert lover and the fact that I find baking very calming… I love all the Christmas cookies baking that have to be done in the month of December. My favorite type are the peanut butter blossoms… DIVINE!
Another favorite American tradition is building a gingerbread house. If you are like me, then you would probably go to the store and get a ready to assemble gingerbread house from Target. However, if you are married to an engineer, like I am, then you are stuck with building one from scratch (a.k.a. DYI – buying a big box of graham crackers, frosting cans, candy canes and candy drops). I have to admit that this is actually super fun and if things don’t work out then you can eat the cookies and frosting!
Now on to the outfit; it wouldn’t be christmas if you didn’t wear something red or green. Well, I decided to go with WINE! This dress is from Nordstrom, and I actually got it on sale for under $30. I decided to go for a size small because I wanted a more comfortable look (after all those christmas cookies!). This dress fits true to size and if you want a more of a tight feeling I would size down.
This dress is perfect for any occasion. You can wear to go to your family christmas party (you can pair it with black or nude over the knee boots) or a night hanging out with friends (it goes well with a pair of nude pumps and a sparkly neckclace). Otherwise, if you are like me who likes to look cute for a “stay at home with hubby kind of day..” then it also looks great!
And let’s be honest! As much as I would like to shut down everything and not have to worry about getting gifts for everyone and going to all the christmas parties, it’s something that I just can’t do. What I CAN DO is take a day off to my self and enjoy it!
Until next time my friends!
